What is LHA?
Lincoln Homeschool Academy is a hybrid, Charlotte Mason inspired school in Lincoln, Nebraska that features on campus programming for students in grades K-12 two days a week (Monday and Wednesday), and provides off campus programming two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
We'll pick the curriculum AND schedule your school year so you can spend your time teaching and learning right alongside your children!
Stay up to date with what your child studies at school on Mondays and Wednesdays and stay on track with home school lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, using our weekly guided lessons!
Add your own selections for Tuesday and Thursday morning basket (or use our suggestions) and additional community lessons (sports, music, theater) on home days if desired.
Learning in a child centered school environment with mixed-aged peers two days a week.
School parties, field trips, special events, and special programming.
Our staff love teaching and are dedicated to guiding and encouraging your child in her education!
Families who fit well with the LHA model are either current or brand new homeschoolers looking for a balance between school at home and school on-campus for their students.
LHA students benefit from schooling with peers two days a week: taking art and music classes, enjoying multiple recesses daily, engaging in school parties, enjoying a variety of field trips, learning in hands-on environment, and much more!
Homeschool parents benefit from help with curriculum choices, school year scheduling and pacing, flexibility during the school week, and teacher support.
"My daughter has been at LHA for 3 years. It has been an excellent hybrid school option for us. She thrives on the structure and accountability of the school days, but still has the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling. She loves her teachers and her classmates and all of the fun and engaging projects they do. She is thriving at LHA. I am so thankful to Latrice and all the teachers for everything they do!"
"LHA has been a blessing. It has made homeschooling fun and simple as my kid(s) get to go to school and get the school day, but also get to be home with me on the other days. I love how it takes the guesswork of what the kids should study out of the question for me and we know what we need to do at home. LHA is a great community of kids and families and thankful for what all the teachers do."
"We have been going to LHA for 3 years now. We have a current 2nd grader and kindergartener. My kids absolutely love school and look forward to school days. Homeschooling was always on our hearts but seemed overwhelming to take on alone. LHA has given us the support and partnership we were looking for to make homeschooling work for our family. The teachers are amazing and it has always been very clear to us how much they care about our kids. We love being a part of the LHA community."
"We would absolutely recommend LHA to anyone considering homeschool. The small classroom sizes have been such a blessing. The hybrid style gives us the best of both worlds and gives our children more people in their corner to help them succeed. The kids have really enjoyed being able to go to school 2 days a week and build friendships and have a community of their own. For our family, LHA was everything we were looking for when starting out our children’s school careers."
The Charlotte Mason style of education is unhurried, calm and engaging for students and teachers.
It focuses on engaging books called, "Living Books" and a literature rich environment. Students are exposed to living books in science, geography, literature, history and more!
Charlotte Mason students also practice narration (telling back what they have learned), healthy habit building, nature study, careful observation, and brief and engaging lessons.
Education is a feast and our students are invited to partake in a wide array of offerings.
At LHA, students are grouped in small, mixed age classrooms
All students learn the same subjects (not always using the same curriculum), and demonstrate their learning with varying degrees of challenge depending on their ability level.
We stay together in larger groups (10-12 students) for Bible, history and narration, art, music, and sometimes science; and split into even smaller class sizes for reading, math, vocabulary and spelling, grammar and literature.
Middle school and high school students are challenged with age appropriate and interesting classes including various sciences with labs, literature, composition, upper level mathematics, various electives, journalism, and government.
In addition to Living Books, they may use some text books to learn additional study skills and practice test taking.
High school and advanced middle school students can begin working on high school transcript course work as early as 8th grade.
All students enjoy three recesses a day- one in the morning, one grouped with lunch in the middle of the day, and one in the afternoon.
At LHA there is no such thing as bad weather- just bad gear; so students come equipped with muck boots, snow suits- whatever they need to make the most of our midwest weather!
Students also participate in monthly or bi-monthly Nature School! They spend the first part of the day outdoors in God's Creation- learning, climbing, hiking, jumping, observing, exploring, reporting our findings and being fully immersed in God's creation.
